With the Melbourne Cup been and gone for another year I am left to ponder; why can’t I ever seem to back a winner?
The dress, the hat, the shoes always come up trumps but backing the right horse always seems to elude me. To be honest, win or lose, all I really care about is the fashion anyway. I do regularly take out 1st prize for the fancy hat parade at work – woo hoo! But with that being said a lot of the guys in my office are really starting to get into the spirit of things too, one of the guys even went as far as to donning on a jockey uniform.
Each year that my office watches The Melbourne Cup the event itself seems to get bigger and bigger, with this year’s festivities playing host to Russian Royalty, an international soccer star, Hollywood celebrities and local socialites. But why is it that Victoria is the only state to get a public holiday. I only think it’s fair that all states receive at least half a day public holiday or each state gets to host their own version of the big race. Just give me another day off!!
